Cheryl L. Butler is the patient mother of eight children under the age of 17. A freelance writer, when not partying in the laundry room or coordinating her home décor around stains and broken furniture, she writes the column “Family Zone” for local magazines in Southern Rhode Island. Author of the newly released Pregnant Women Don’t Eat Cabbage, she is also published in anthology series such as Chicken Soup For The Pre-School Mother’s Soul , Chicken Soup For The Chocolate Lover’s Soul, and The Misadventures of Mom and Disasters of Dad. She lives in Saunderstown, RI with her go-with-the flow husband, Brian, and their fun-loving brood of five boys and three girls.
Cheryl and her husband, Brian, are the parents of eight children, but the journey to a family of 10 was not an easy one. It included:
6 years of infertility
3 miscarriages
1 adoption
1 successful fertility treatment
4 planned pregnancies
2 welcome surprise pregnancies
Having delivered seven children, Cheryl is more than qualified to write a book about the joys and hard truths about pregnancy. She is also very sensitive to women trying to conceive and adopting mothers.
Pregnant Women Don’t Eat Cabbage is a thoughtful, helpful, and humorous book for expecting mothers and fathers to prepare them for what lies ahead. It is a must-read for everyone who is supporting an expecting mother who wants a funny insider’s look at all that women go through to deliver babies. Enjoy this book because it truly is amazing—and sometimes hilarious and embarrassing—to become a mom.
If you're wondering if you need feathers for nesting, what varicose veins and voluptuous breasts really feel like, and what your spouse's role is in all of this, she'll happily share all she's learned from her seven visits to and from the delivery room. Finally, find out why her best advice is that pregnant women should not eat cabbage. Once you stop laughing, you'll be glad you did!
